Philippe Coutinho was a late addition to Tite’s Brazil team for the World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Argentina, but the Selecao manager is keen to see the Barcelona midfielder reclaim his form from a few years ago.
While at Liverpool, the 29-year-old became one of the finest players in the world, but after moving to Barcelona for 160 million euros in 2018, he has fallen short of expectations.
“Coutinho is not the greatest Coutinho today, but he is a fantastic player. He has a bright future ahead of him, and we’ll bring him back to where he was at Liverpool. We need to restart the process of determining how good of a player he is “Tite made the comments ahead of his team’s World Cup qualifier against Colombia on Friday.
“Coutinho’s talent is undeniable, and no one can deny that he has it.
“In my opinion, Couto can play on either side, inside or outside, but he’s an important player who must make the last pass.”
Vinicius Tite also spoke about Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior, who was originally left off the squad list until being brought up as an injured substitute for Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino.
“With him, we need to be patient and understanding,” Tite remarked.
“At Real Madrid, he went through a lengthy period of adjustment. We need to raise knowledge about player preparation in the national team, and I need to establish a hospitable atmosphere in which he can grow.
