Real Madrid left-back Ferland Mendy, an Arsenal transfer target, has been told he can leave for a reduced fee, but his agent’s intentions could disrupt the deal.

According to reports, Ferland Mendy may be available to Arsenal at a discounted price. However, any potential move to the Emirates may be complicated by the player’s agent. The Gunners have been linked with Mendy in the past, as the left-back has fallen out of favour at Real Madrid in recent times.

To field his strongest team, Carlo Ancelotti has deployed midfielder Eduardo Camavinga as a full-back in important matches, with Nacho Fernandez also playing in that position. As a result, Ferland Mendy is no longer a key player at Real Madrid, which could potentially lower his price tag.

Earlier reports had indicated that Arsenal would need to pay £52.5m to acquire the 27-year-old left-back, whose contract with Real Madrid expires in June 2025.

Arsenal’s involvement of the defender’s agency may make things more difficult for them.

The same report claims that Mendy’s representatives are seeking to speak to Tottenham.

Mendy is thought to be intent on competing in the Champions League next season, something that is now out of Tottenham’s reach, which might provide a dilemma for the Gunners.

Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney are presently the two left backs for Arsenal.

Arsenal will be looking to make astute signings during the summer transfer window in order to build on their impressive performance this season. Although they will need some help from other teams to overtake Manchester City for the title, manager Mikel Arteta is poised to lead his team to their best league finish since 2016.
