Man United suffered an embarrassing 3-1 loss at the Emirates Stadium ending their hopes for a Top 4 finish this season. The game started in horror fashion for Man United as they conceded as early as the 3rd minute after their defenders failed to clear the ball. Saka then doubled Arsenal’s lead from the spot before Cristiano Ronaldo pulled one back for his team before half time.
Ronaldo then saw one of his goal ruled out for a marginal offside call. Man United also got a penalty in the second half but Bruno Fernandes failed to capitalise and missed it. Xhaka then scored Arsenal’s 3rd goal at the 70th min mark to put the game beyond Man United and end their top 4 hopes.
Man United interim Manager, Ralf Rangnick believes his side were on the end of harsh decisions from VAR. Talking in the post match press conference, Rangnick said:
“For me the Arsenal third was clearly offside. The second of Cristiano was not offside. We were not very happy with the VAR decisions today. I felt there were three very unlucky VAR decisions.“

Rangnick also said that his team put up an improved performance from their last game:
“I think we showed an improved performance but in the end a disappointing result. I think we bounced back well from the early goal and had numerous chances in both halves to score more goals.”
“I thought the weak part of our performance today was we didn’t defend well inside and around our box.”
Rangnick also admitted on conceding the Top 4 with this defeat to Arsenal:
“After today’s result, top four is gone, yes.”
With just 4 more games left to play this season, Man United are currently 6th in the Premier League standings.
