Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are two of the greatest players in World Football. The two have dominated the football field for over a decade and still continue to make their mark. Both switched teams in the summer as Messi moved to Paris and Cristiano returned to his boyhood club Manchester United.
Ronaldo has had a decent season so far as the Portuguese has scored 18 goals in all competitions for Manchester United. However, his numbers are far from what they were in the past few seasons and that’s mainly down to the problems Manchester United are facing. On the other hand, Leo Messi has had a rather disastrous first season at Paris. The Argentine has only managed to score 2 league goals so far and has failed to hit double figures for goals this season. Despite playing with a star attack of Neymar, Mbappe, Di Maria etc, Lionel Messi has failed to produce the numbers for the Paris side.
Speaking of Messi, his son Thiago Messi who currently plays at Barcelona youth team is a huge fan of Cristiano. Talking in an interview, Messi said: “Thiago talks a lot about football players. Apart from Barcelona players, he knows a lot about PSG players Neymar and Mbappe and also talks about Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. He asks me about him all the time.”
Messi also spoke how his son is disappointed if his team fails to win a game and asks for reasons. “After a loss, Thiago forces me to comment on what happened and explain why we did not win. He talks about football a lot.”
It would be great to see Thiago Messi and Cristiano Jr stepping into their father’s shoes once the GOATs retire but it won’t be easy for them to replicate what their father has achieved on the field. Both kids, Thiago and Cristiano Jr are currently playing at Barcelona and Manchester United youth teams respectively.
