In an interview with La Gazetta dello Sport in January 2020, Mbappe talked about how he wants to follow Ronaldo’s career.
“It’s too late for me to have a career like Messi, I would have had to stay at Monaco. Without taking anything away from Messi, now I have to draw inspiration from Cristiano’s career.”
Mbappe explained that to have a career like Messi he would have to stay at one club but now he wants to imitate his idol Cristiano Ronaldo’s career.
Mbappe’s French National Team Manager, Didier Deschamps also likened Mbappe’s playing style to Cristiano.
In the post match press conference of Portugal vs France Nations League game in 2021, Deschamps said:
“Cristiano and Mbappe are two players who are able to be decisive for their team at any moment. It is a strength of Cristiano and it is also one of Kylian, even if he is younger. They both are top players.”
One of Mbappe’s teammates Abdou Diallo also reveals his untouchable admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo. Diallo and Mbappe played together at Monaco and now they have reunited at Paris Saint Germain.
