Cristiano Ronaldo completed a remarkable move back to Manchester United from Juventus this summer. The Portuguese broke the internet when his move to Man United was announced and his announcement tweet became the most liked sports tweet in the history of Sports. The Portuguese has been in terrific form for Man United scoring 18 Goals in the season so far. However, on a collective level Manchester United have been underwhelming as the English side has once again missed on the silverware this season.
Cristiano Ronaldo became the first Man United number 7 since Cristiano Ronaldo to score 10+ Premier League goals. It’s clear to say none of the Man United’s previous number 7s were able to fill in Cristiano Ronaldo’s boots and Man United had to bring the Portuguese back to fill his own boots. Ronaldo’s return benefited Manchester United both from a sporting perspective and also from the marketing perspective.
Now the Portuguese is on the verge of yet another Premier League record. Cristiano Ronaldo needs just 3 more goals to become the oldest player to score 15 Premier League goals in a single season. Gianfranco Zola scored 14 Premier League goals in the 2002-03 season at the age of 36. However, Cristiano Ronaldo, now 37 is currently on 12 Premier League goals. All Cristiano needs is 3 more goals in the remaining fixtures to add yet another record to his already record breaking career.
Ronaldo scored a hattrick vs Tottenham Hotspurs in his last Premier League game before the International break and now the Portuguese would be looking to repeat the same when the Red Devils face Leicester City at Old Trafford tomorrow. Cristiano helped Portugal qualify to the World Cup during the International Break and now his focus turns to bringing Man United back into the Top 4 of the Premier League. Man United will need to hit top form in the remaining fixtures if they have to keep their Champions League dreams alive for next season.
